A Star Reflecting the Divine Beauty : Mehmed NecmedDin Okyay
Mehmed NecmedDin Okyay was interested in fine arts since his childhood. He was one of the students of “Özbekler tekkesi şeyhi” Edhem Efendi, one of the important marbling experts in his term and calligraphy expert Sami efendi. He was the first who tried marbling with flowers and he made (created) good Works. So marbling with flowers and writings known as NecmedDin marbling. He is reconciled with social and cultural environment, and he has the command on Türk-İslâm arts. By reflecting cemali ilahi (chant) to the paper in marbling and calligraphy arts he gave life (prospered) to the marbling again. With the inspiration he got from the sufizm culture in Üsküdar, under the light of the “The GOd is beautiful, and loves beauty” saying of the God, he carried the estetical taste to the peak.
