Abstract

Titunfıtr Ribat in Morocco and Emgâriyye Sufi Order “al Taifa al Sanhaciyya”

Most importent centers of Maghrib Sufism at the first period are ribats. Foremost of Maghrib ribats is Ribat Tit-n-Fitr. This ribat that has been founded in the Dukkale region of Morocco is religion and spiritual center of Sanhaja tribe. Sheikhs of Ribat Tit are leaders atthe knowledge, morals, taqva, asceticism and service. Some of them are Abu Ibrahim Isma’il ibn Said Amghar, Abu Ja’far Ishaq ibn Isma’il, Abu Abdallah Muhammad ibn Ishaq Amghar, Abu ‘Abd al-Khaliq Abd al-Azim ibn Abu Abdallah Amghar and Abu Muhammad Abd as-Salam ibn Abu Abdallah Amghar. Amghariyya’s principal characteristics that has been known at-Ta’ifa as-Sanhâjiyya are that: 1. They have been following the prophethood tradetion. 2. They have been following Maliki madhab and establishing relations with the ulama. 3. They have been accepting the sheriffs. 4. They have been considering important the ascetism. 5. They have been accepting futuwwe tradation. 6. They have been paying attention to local volues. 7. They have been attendin to the ethnic identity. 8. Amghariyya order has been turning the Cazuliyya order. 9. They have been joining at the indepence fight against Portuguese.
