Abstract

Commentory of Aşık Yunus

Sheikh Mustafa Selami Efendi, who was a Naqshi sheikh, was born in Izmir, and has passed away in Istanbul (d. 1813). He is the son of Sheikh Ismail Efendi. He visited Bukhara for some time, and received khilafa from Naqshiyya-i Kasaniyye and came back to Istanbul. He dealt with teaching people in the dergah built in Eyup Sultan Baba Haydar Neighborhood in 1798 by Arabacızâde İbrahim Nesîm Efendi (d. 1807), who was the ketkhûda of sadaret. He has three known works: Divân-ı Selâmî, Mevlid (Hilye), Şerh-i Âşık Yûnus. This article deals with the life of Selâmî Mustafa Efendi, and a commentary on one of the poems of Âşık Yûnus, which did not catch attention up to now. This poem, which starts with the following couplet, is commented by a Sufi who has reached the secrets of Oneness: Gâh deli gönlüm coşar bilmem n'idesüm gelür/Ben dervîşim diyene bir ün idesüm gelür.
